Right-Wing press attacks Bette Midler for saying "Imagine if Hillary said 2016 was stolen?"
Yes, imagine that? How crazy would that be? How insane would the GOP go? Even though that kinda did happen.
So Right-Wing Media has got a hair up their butt. (Via Ground News)
Claim: Hollywood star Bette Midler is pushing the left’s claim that Hillary Clinton has never questioned election results. In an X post on Sunday, the actress wrote: “Can you imagine what would have happened if Hillary Clinton had claimed the election was stolen?”
Verdict: Misleading if not completely false.
Oh, look at that, Breibart thinks they’re a neutral arbiter of facts or something?
Ha ha. That’s cute.
This entire thing is typically distorted right-wing bullshit. Hillary won the popular vote, Russia influenced that election on top of Comey's October surprise. Hillary has not said the "election was stolen" she conceded the first night.
Breitbart argues a bunch of false disproven assertions to claim Midler's suggestion is false because…
Hillary Clinton was a chief architect of the Russia collusion hoax, which sought to discredit the 2016 election by claiming then-candidate Donald Trump surreptitiously teamed up with Russia to fix the results.
Yes, they did “team up” with Russia.
Don Jr. met personally with a Russia lawyer in order to dirt on the Hillary campaign.
They were told by Russian operatives about the GRU hack of the DNC emails system months before it came out. Trump said "Russia if you're listening..."
Trump kept working on the Trump Tower Russia project until mid-2016 and lied about it, while secretly in negotiations with Dmitri Peskov.
Paul Manafort gave internal polling data to a GRU operative, Konstantin Kilimnick.
Carter Page was told about the sale of 19.5% of Rosneft stock even though it was a sanctioned company and he couldn't legally profit from that.
Roger Stone was in contact with a Russian operative, Guccifer 2.0, and arranged for Wikileaks to release the Podesta emails in order to distract from the Access Hollywood tape.
Michael Flynn suggested Trump would drop sanctions on Russia if they didn’t react to Obama expelling their diplomats for…. wait for it… interfering with the election.
Five members of Trump's entourage — Papadopoulos, Stone, Flynn, Van Der Zwaan and Cohen — were prosecuted and convicted for lying under oath about their contacts with Russia. They all did time, the cases were proven.
Part of Russia's plan was to divert votes from Bernie supporters and Black voters to either have them not vote at all -- or else vote for 3rd party candidates like Jill Stein. They used the DNC emails to accomplish this by alleging that the DNC had undermined Bernie's campaign, even though those were just some ideas that some staffers had talked about -- because Bernie isn't a Democrat - but they didn't actually implement those ideas.
This plan *worked* Jill Stein got 10 times her normal vote, she was inflated enough that her vote totals in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania were more than the difference between Trump and Clinton.
Breitbart says…
"Hillary Clinton’s former campaign manager has testified that she personally approved her campaign’s plans in late 2016 to promote allegations of a smoking gun connection between Trump and Russia. She even tweeted the accusations in a post that is still up."
Yes. This was a report from Salon magazine about a Trump organization server being pinged by a Russian server. This was already being investigated by the FBI - she didn't *start* that investigation, it was public knowledge. And John Durham's attempts to allege that one of her surrogates had planted that story falsely with the FBI failed in court, and he was acquitted.
"Her campaign was behind the infamous Trump dossier — also known as the Steele dossier — which was leaked to Buzzfeed News and was published ten days before Trump took office. The dossier, which claimed Trump was a Russian asset, turned out to be completely false."
Her lawyers paid for opposition research on Trump which had previously been paid for by the Conservative Free Beacon, they weren't informed that that was subcontracted to Orbis and Christopher Steele. They weren't informed about the contents of the dossier until it was reported by Buzzfeed because Steele took it to the FBI instead of giving it back to Clinton's people. He felt his findings were too serious to just be political fodder.
How exactly could she be "behind" a dossier she never even saw?
"As a result of her actions, the mainstream news media spent the bulk of Trump’s term obsessing over “Russiagate,” with some even winning Pulitzer Prizes for their coverage."
Those weren't *her* actions, those were Steele's actions when he got frustrated with the FBI and took his dossier to Yahoo News. Hillary had literally nothing to do with any of that. Also, Trump's lawsuit accusing Hillary Clinton of all this - and his suit against Steele making all these allegations against them were *THROWN OUT OF COURT* - and Trump was sanctioned $1 Million for bringing this bogus case.
Former President Donald Trump and one of his attorneys were ordered Thursday to pay nearly $1 million for a "completely frivolous" lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and others.
U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks concluded that Trump undermined "the rule of law" with a string of lawsuits filed to air political grievances.
Middlebrooks wrote that the suit against Clinton, former FBI officials and the Democratic Party "should never have been brought." Middlebrooks ordered Trump and attorney Alina Habba to pay $937,989.39 to Clinton and the other defendants.
A spokesperson for Habba and Trump declined to comment.
Trump’s case against Christopher Steele was also thrown out of court too.
Former US president Donald Trump has been ordered to pay a six-figure legal bill to a company founded by a former British spy whom Trump unsuccessfully sued for making what his lawyer called “shocking and scandalous” false claims that harmed his reputation.
A London judge, who threw out the case against Orbis Business Intelligence last month saying it was “bound to fail”, ordered Trump to pay legal fees of £300,000 ($382,000), according to court documents released on Thursday.
Orbis was founded by Christopher Steele, who once ran the Russia desk for Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6.
And just to complete the trifecta, Trump was forced to drop his lawsuit against Letitia James.
On Friday morning, Trump voluntarily dropped a lawsuit against New York State Attorney General Letitia James that had sought to stall her office's $250 million civil case brought in September against Trump and his company. James' office has accused Trump and his company of widespread fraud.
Just like he lost 61 out of 62 election fraud lawsuits.
Mueller got 8 convictions - 5 of them for “lying under oath” about Russia. John Durham tried to make some of these arguments in his own cases and he lost twice. Trump tried to use these claims to sue Cliton, Comey, James and Steele and he lost every case, plus lawyers fees and sanctions.
Breitbart is not giving people the full story, they are still repeating all this shit as if it was somehow legitimate to attack Midler like it's gospel truth. It’s not.
"In a 2019 interview with CBS’ Sunday Morning show, Hillary Clinton called then-President Trump an “illegitimate president.” She added: “I know that he knows that this [the 2016 election] wasn’t on the level.”"
Well, no it wasn't “on the level” for all the reasons I just listed including the fact he LOST. THE. POPULAR. VOTE. In fact, every Republican candidate has lost the popular vote in every election since 1988, except for once, in 2004. So yeah, we called W Bush “illegitimate” too for the same reason. He didn’t actually win the votes.
This is a classic case of the Right trying to take two different things and make them appear the same. They aren’t.
Hillary still didn't say "It was stolen" by people putting in illegal votes -- the fact is that voters were *suppressed* and discouraged by Russia's interference and antics. Also by Comey’s search warrant which again, lead nowhere.
She’s saying the same thing that Trump is saying about the New York Post story about Hunter’s Laptop being “suppressed.” He claims that if voters had “known” about it — he would have won in 2020. Because he didn’t. He says it would have depressed Biden’s vote.
Which is also kinda the same thing as saying that Trump’s paying hush money to suppress the stories from his doorman, Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels denied voters knowing that he’s a letch.
And he might have lost some votes if people only knew. Maybe.
