The sad truth about Beautiful Things: Hunter Biden Convicted
I've listened to Chapters 8-10 of Hunter Biden's audiobook - Beautiful Things.
It's a really sad story of his descent into depravity and self-destruction that is brutally honest and horrifically dark. He was trapped in an endless cycle of chasing the next high, and ignoring everything else around him. Living in Chateau Marmont on Sunset in Hollywood -- where John Belushi killed himself with drugs -- Hunter details the constant flow of drug dealers and hanger's-on in his life supplying him with crack who had no concern for him or his life. Frequently and repeatedly they stole his ID and Credit Cards driving him to the bank over and over again to have them replaced.
He wrote personal letters to his dead brother Beau, expressing his loss and regret. He ignored calls from his ex-wife and children. burying himself deeper in addiction through the Spring and Summer of 2018. By the fall he states that his uncle James arrived and dragged him off to rehab resulting in several weeks of sobriety. This happened around the time that he bought the Gun in October, but he doesn't specifically mention that purchase.
He moved back to Delaware, and attempted another rehab program but it ultimately failed, leading to him living in seedy Hotels along I-95. In early 2019, his kids, and ex-girlfriend Halee reached out and invited him to dinner - which turned out to be a full-on Intervention with therapists from a clinic he had previously attended, He cursed them out, he demanded to leave. His daughter to took his keys and demanded that he stay. He eventually agreed to go to a different rehab center, but ordered and Uber and left as soon as he arrived.
It wasn't until he again returned to LA and was kicked out of his latest hotel near Sunset that he met a photographer and some friends who set him up on a blind date with a South African Woman named Melissa. She put the date off from morning coffee to lunch to eventually dinner -- but when he finally met this woman he fell head over heals at first sight. It was the first date he'd been on in 3 years, and the first time he hadn't used a crack pipe in equally as long. They mesmerized each other, and when he admitted to her that he was a crack addict, she didn't run away, she didn't flinch. They committed to each other and it was with her help - carefully policing and protecting him from himself - that he was finally able to get clean and stay that way. They married in a quickie wedding in mid-2019 while his dad was running for President.
They're still married, the blond woman who has been accompanying him into court is Melissa Cohen Biden. She became his rock and helped him finally fill the "God-sized Hole" in his heart that was opened by the death of his brother. The autobiography is not definitive on his thinking when he purchased the gun, but it does show that around that time he was in the midst of a failed period of recovery and sobriety when he purchased the weapon. I'm not sure how well the defense has stressed this point, but it's potentially true that he was in recovery when he bought the gun and may have marked the form truthfully.
It's in the jury's hands now. He survived that, perhaps he will survive this as well.
Found guilty on all three counts. That’s a bummer for him and his family. His dad won’t pardon him, but as a first offense he’ll probably just get probation.
On the other hand, this drives a dagger in the heart of the idea that the DOJ is biased against Republicans and for Democrats. It’s kinda not, right here.
