Where exactly is the end of tolerance and unity?
Kamala Harris visited Penzey's spices and called for "Unity", and Fox News really seriously didn't
So Fox and Fools did a segment that slammed Kamala Harris as faking her outreach to “Unity” because she made such statements while standing in — in their words — the meanest spice shop on Earth.
"Vice President Harris is hunkering down in Pittsburgh as she pushes for unity while visiting a spice shop known for mocking Republicans," Fox News host Will Cain announced on Sunday's edition of Fox & Friends.
Cain was referring to Harrris' Saturday appearance at Penzeys Spices in Pittsburgh.
He criticized the Democratic nominee for her call "to get beyond the divisiveness and have a little more joy."
Co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy called Penzeys "the meanest spice shop in America."
"They chose the comfiest, coziest place she could conceivably go, where all of the—the owners and the staff are 100 percent libs who hate Trump," co-host Pete Hegseth agreed. "And they not only believe that privately, to your point, Will, they say it publicly."
The hosts pointed to a statement on Penzeys website: "Going forward, we would still be glad to have you as customers, but we're done pretending the Republican Party's embrace of cruelty, racism, COVID lies, climate change denial, and threats to democracy are anything other than the risks they legitimately are."
Campos-Duffy suggested Harris' stage name could be "Mean Spice" because "Scary Spice is already taken."
"This is the strangest event," she continued. "I get it if she goes there, but then to talk about unity while she's at the meanest spice shop in America, Penzeys Spice."
[...]
Cain said Harris' call to end divisiveness at the spice shop showed her "inability to think improvisationally."
"By the way, this is how the left thinks, by the way," Hegseth opined. "Yes, we need to end divisiveness. And you know how we do that? Everyone needs to think like us."
Campos-Duffy claimed that she had personally learned that lesson while starring on The Real World, an MTV reality show.
"There is no tolerance unless you agree with them," she asserted.
Now, we know who and what Fox News truly is — which is not News. They are a pack of GOP shills who are essentially doing the same thing that Tim Pool and Dave Rubin were doing for Russian money.
They’re bullshiting us.
They exist to tell the New Confederacy what they want to hear. They make every possible excuse for the aggression and grievance of White Power and Neo-Christian Theocracy. They always make themselves the victim, while relentlessly attack their opponents.
They strive for power and control — and nothing more.
But they do present an interesting point here. How tolerant is tolerant enough? Yes, we may all want more “unity” and “cooperation” but does that mean that you need to rub shoulders with literal Neo-Nazis? With literal Segregationist? With literal Anti-Semites? Do we tolerate people who have literally tried to overthrow the nation?
Where do you draw the line, at one point is someone’s bad behavior something that you simply. can’t. endorse. or. tolerate. anymore?
Let’s start with their ultimately “mean” statement.
"Going forward, we would still be glad to have you as customers, but we're done pretending the Republican Party's embrace of cruelty, racism, COVID lies, climate change denial, and threats to democracy are anything other than the risks they legitimately are. If you need us to pretend that you are not creating the hurt that you are, in order for you to continue being our customer, I’m sad to say you might be happier elsewhere."
Like many of you, I don’t see this as a mean statement, I see it as common sense. Why exactly should we be tolerant of deliberate cruelty? Why should we tolerate racism? COVID lies lead to more Americans dying during the pandemic than any other country on Earth. Why in the fucking world would anyone want more of that? Climate change threatens our entire world with famine, drought, growing heat storms and ever-increasing hurricanes, floods, landslides and tornadoes. The attacking of Democracy itself with Fake Electors, voter suppression and purges, caging, gerrymandering, precinct closures, Id requirements and phony claims of “election fraud” by migrants who simply have no physical way to vote.
To them, this is “improvisational thinking?”
Fucking really?
Also, why would a Conservative need to get into a ideologal fight with a spice company?
Contrast this to people's reaction to Home Depot.
"Congratulations to @HomeDepot, which has officially donated $1,000,000 to support the members of Congress who voted not to certify the results of the 2020 election," CREW posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday morning. "Bankrolling the Sedition Caucus is a choice, and Home Depot has doubled down!"
[...]
Boycott calls stemming from the CREW report came less than 24 hours after 94-year-old Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, who left the company in 2022 but retains a large amount of stock, vowed to donate to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign even if he is convicted of a crime.
Marcus, whose outspoken support for Republican candidates and causes has sparked multiple calls for boycotts over the years, told Reuters on Tuesday that he thought the ex-president's 91 felony charges were "all trumped up." His remarks also resulted in suggestions of a Home Depot boycott on X.
Home Depot has shown it’s ideological preference and that’s ok with Fox & Fools. People can vote with their Dollars. But Penzey’s somehow isn’t allowed that luxury?
Do we really have to have the conversation of “Nazi Holocaust Bad or nah?” “Jim Crow, too much or not enough?” But apparently, we still do.
We’ve literally had members of the GOP stand up and proclaim with their actual real voices that “Slavery taught Skills.” Like there was an UP SIDE to the fucking Slave trade. They said that shit out loud and they meant it.
Every single example that the Florida Board attempted to use to prove this case was wrong. Either they were not a slave -- like George Washington’s sister — or the skills they acquired happened despite Slavery. In some cases, like Booker T. Washington learning to read, it was prohibited by Slavery. A full analysis of their listed examples of “Slaves who learned skills" was this.
It was bullshit.
They were trying to gaslight people with that bullshit. This is what Fox News, Tenet media, the Dailywire, OAN, Pregor U and Newsmax attempt to do every single day. Gaslight people with bullshit.
We are far past the point where we should be debating Climate change. It’s too fucking late for that — the changes are happening right now. We can see that the polar ice cap is melting — it’s not a hoax. It’s not a matter of opinion any more.
We can see this shit from space.
It’s not a “theory” not anymore. It's proven.
But not to the MAGAs. To them, Racism isn’t a proven problem. Bigotry isn’t a proven problem. Most of their “policy” suggestions are to implement bigotry and racism INTO public policy such as their demand for “Mass Deportation.” Such as their demands to send the Military into the Inner City to finally “clean up” the gangs.
These are just retreads and repeats of previous failed policies — such as the Chinese Exclusion Act. Operation: Wetback. The Tulsa Race Massacre. The Trail of Tears. What we’re dealing with here is Genocide.
While I’m talking about this let me also point out that Hitler learned everything he needed to know by studying the KKK and Eugenicist in America.
In his new book, Hitler’s American Model: The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law, legal scholar James Q. Whitman shows that America’s regime of legal discrimination drew the admiration of the most notorious “race realists” of the 20th century, the Nazi regime. The mutual regard of Nazi and US eugenicists is well known to historians of scientific racism. (Edwin Black’s 2003 War Against the Weak brings together many threads of this story.) We know, for instance, that Hitler wrote a fan letter to Grant, and that his writings and speeches exhibited an approving awareness of US compulsory sterilization laws, racial restrictions on immigration, and—especially—exterminatory policies toward Native Americans
On the US side, the eugenicist Harry Laughlin published a translation of the 1933 German Law for the Prevention of Defective Progeny in his Eugenical News. He noted proudly that the Nazi law, like several similar American state laws, was patterned on a model that he drafted. As late as 1940, the American writer Lothrop Stoddard published a book subtitled “A Sympathetic Report from Hitler’s Wartime Reich.” By then, admiration for Germany was unfashionable, but for most of his career Stoddard had been a respected expert on international relations whose work, alongside Grant’s, brought the idea of “race suicide” into the scientific mainstream.
Again, Hitler learned about racial extermination from America. We taught him that as we implemented Mass Sterilization programs.
“America First” was originally used by American racists and isolationists who supported eugenicism and made excuses for Nazi Germany.
"I have been forced to the conclusion that we cannot win this war for England regardless of how much assistance we send. That is why the America First Committee has been formed," Lindbergh said in 1941, just months before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that launched the U.S. into World War II.
A few momentous years later, after the devastation of the war, isolationism was out of fashion. Instead, America became the driving force in establishing a global web that defines the world to this day — NATO, the United Nations, a strong U.S. military presence in Asia, open seas, a host of trade agreements.
These arrangements are now being challenged by President Trump. He has often described them as a burden the U.S. should shed, and he has distilled his approach into the phrase "America First."
"From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this day forward, it's going to be only America first, America first," Trump said at his inaugural on Jan. 20.
They refuse to learn the hard lessons of the past, and are deadset on repeating them.
They won’t let this history be taught in schools, because they think literally knowing about all this is “Hating America.”
Knowing actual factual American History leads to Hating America!
How fucked up is that?
This is who they are, this is the America they want back. Rebirth of a Nation. The America that inspired Hitler. Jim Crow America. Segregationist Sun Down Town America. The America that massacred the Native Americans and stuck their children in Boarding Schools for “re-education” that tortured and killed them. The America the shrugged off Reconstruction. These people are Neo-Confederates. This is why they carry around That Flag. That Flag is who they truly are.
Here's a debate from the weekend’s Real Time with Bill Maher where, yet again, people including Rich Lowry and HR. McMaster are making excuses and gaslighting over America’s history of genocide arguing that even knowing about it is a “mistake” that overshadows the “Greatness of America.”
Only John Avlon gets it right.
They argue that “Slavery” was common in the world. No, Indentured Servitude was common in the world at that time. America changed temporary individual Indentured Servitude which would end in 10 years and lead to “Freedome Dues” into a grand scheme of permanent, generational, racial Slavery, forced labor, torture, rape and murder which lasted for 400 years.
That was a horror that was unique in the entire world.
We look long down our noses at Hitler, at Stalin, at the killing fields of Cambodia and the Fascism, Marxism and Communism that was used to justify these horrors. But we in America, in the name of “Freedom” and “Profit” have implemented several even greater massacres by many more millions.
We have never faced our horrors. Not openly. Not honestly. We have never accepted them. We have never admitted them. We have never atoned for them or even tried to correct them.
Consequently, we still retain the capacity to repeat them.
Yes, we absolutely should HATE THAT. We absolutely should HATE the horrors America wrought. Because if we don't, we are likely to repeat those horrors. And that is exactly what they want, it’s exactly what Project 2025 is. That’s what we saw when a mob of thousands viciously attacked the Capitol and now call themselves “Patriots” despite their violence and betrayal.
America has an amazing potential for greatness, but only when it REJECTS and battles against All. This. Shit. Our greatness was when we fought Against Hitler. Our greatness is when we fought against Totalitarianism. Our greatness was when we ended Jim Crow. When we ended Segregation.
This is exactly the bullshit that the MAGAs are caught up in. They think our best — when we have expanded the promise of freedom to more and more people — Is. Our. Worst. They think the Civil Rights Acct should be repealed because America Was Great when we had Terrorism, Racial Riots, Lynch Mobs and Voter Suppression.
They can’t admit the truth, they fight like Cats and Dogs to hide and obscure the facts and the truth. The fact that during most of it’s history America WAS NOT Great. The fact is that America WAS NOT founded on Christianity. The fact is that restricting Reproductive freedom will NOT lead to "saving babies” it leads to Killing and Harming Women. The fact is that Racial and LGBTQ Censorship will not lead to people “Loving America” like well-trained Pavlovian dogs.
That’s the love of a child, not the love of an adult who understands that the object of their affection is woefully far from perfect, but is worth the effort anyway.
Our entire American psyche and self-image is entirely wrapped up in massive web of DENIAL of the reality of what we have done, and what we are still capable of doing. That's what all the gaslighting is about.
"There is no tolerance unless you agree with them," she asserted.
Is being against the world being destroyed by Climate Change merely a “disagreement”? Is being against Genocidal Bigotry merely a “matter of opinion?”
They think this is a reasonable point of debate?
Like Tucker Carlson literally debating Nazism. Is White Supremacy just a point of view?
At a certain point, you have to draw the line. Yes, we can be tolerant of people with different opinions and different views --- but why do we have to be tolerant to those who are INTOLERANT OF OUR EXISTENCE?
They call us “Criminals”, “Rapists”, “Monsters”, “Marxists”, “Socialist”,”Animals”,"Vermin”,"Psychotic", ”Demons" and “Satan.”
Alina Habba told a group of nearly 90,000 prayer warriors Sunday that the many court cases of Donald Trump were the work of Satan, new video shows.
Habba appeared on the Arc of Grace Ministries’ live broadcast to detail her battle to save America’s justice system from what she described as a nefarious foe.
“There’s God’s plan and then there’s the demonic plan,” Habba explained to Amanda Grace and 87,000 viewers of the online prophet’s YouTube show. “We need to fight these people that are obviously coordinated and are trying to have a crusade of election interference.”
[...]
“The more demonic, the more Trump derangement syndrome there is in this world,” said Habba, “the more support there is for the Trump family.”
Again, they call us “Satan.” You don’t debate with Satan. But we're supposed to be nice to them and completely ignore all the evil shit they do?
They say we’re the “meanest in the word” when we merely say "Genocide is bad, m’kay!”
We have to draw the line somewhere — I start with people who want to kill and destroy me. That’s NOT “Unity” — That’s not “Tolerance.” It's being a collaborator in my own destruction.
Yes, we want you to agree with us that Racial Genocide is not acceptable. We want you to agree with us that Democracy matters. That saving the world is better than stuffing our pockets and throwing it in the trash. We want you to agree with us that Humanity is worth having.
Because you frackers definitely have a humanity deficit disorder.
